canceled. Fully loaded,
gear set up, wetsuits on, let's wait 15 more minutes
to see what this storm's gonna do. Well it's gonna kick
our butts so the dive is canceled. It was in and out
beautiful all morning, big patches of blue sky to tease
us.
Well
since we were already all kitted up, Gus and I decided
to try Foster Park again. We were gonna go from the
East boat launch, along the seawall to the bridge. Not
much to see here, but it was something. We got to the
front of the Naval Station and headed out to a couple
of the pylons in 'deep' water. Found a flounder doing
its best not to be noticed and a sea
robin (Gurnard) trying the same. Found a couple
of nice Arrowhead crabs hiding in the pylons.
We
eased in to where there was a bunch of large concrete
slabs. There were a couple of fellows there snorkeling
for tropicals. It was amazing... there were StopLight
Parrot Fish and harlequin basslets and a few other tropicals
vying for space down these slabs. Truly amazing....
We could feel the rain pelting our backs and the storm
that had kept us from going out showed up. We never
did make it around the corner into the current, so...
maybe next time!
WHAT
WE LEARNED: Now I know why you carry a knife with
you. Scads of fishing line down here.
