schweet. It's hard to put
into words how exciting this experience was. Since I
now have my RescueCard, I can be what NAUI considers
a TeacherAssistant. What it actually entails is standing
at the back of the class and nodding a lot and shaking
your head a little now and then. But then, there's the
pool!
Had
been talking to my teacher Bob and he and his
wife had very large accelerated classes over the weekend
and they needed a TA to keep the Instructor/Student
ratio in line. Bob said it would be a good experience
to sit on the other side of the class so I volunteered
and it was absolutely a freakin' blast! It was very
interesting to see how different people reacted and
absorbed the material. I've always loved reading Dive
Training magazine; it really is an awesome mag seeing
things from both the students AND instructors perspective,
so it was only natural to try it out first hand.
It
was the pool that was the most fun. You know how SURVIVOR
is so fascinating watching how people interact, well
this is that on a first hand scale. There were fish
and there were non-fish. You can tell in a second.
WHAT
WE LEARNED: Doing the Instructor hand snap attention
sound is a lot harder than it seems. I guess that's
why I got a subDuck, but it's not as cewl.
