Comments:
gus had never been to the
springs and we all decided to give the springs a try.
See previous
dive for details.... The dive gods were in our favour.
On the way up as soon as we passed Gainesville we hit
a nice hard rain storm. Looked like it was locked in
for day. Just as we exited I-75 for the springs it cleared
up and we had beautiful sunshine all day. It was nice
to have lots of time and not be in a hurry like last
time.
The
Devils system was nice as always but the best part of
this dive was we decided to drift dive (snorkel) down
to the main Ball Room. It was freakin' awesome. We should
have had a flag, but we stayed very close to the shore
and the river was empty, what with it being November
and all. There was lots of thick grass to peer under
and see all kinds of sunfish and bass and such. It was
very interesting how the water turned coffee colour
as soon as we left the Devil's System. We kept poppin'
our head up to make sure we didn't miss the entrance
to the main Ball Room since it would have been quite
unpleasant to have to swim AGAINST the current if we
had to get back up stream. It was quite noticeable when
we got to the entrance, but the REALLY clear water was
downstream of the entrance.
WHAT
WE LEARNED: Always plan your dive and dive your
plan.... and remember your DIVE FLAG!!!!
