first
time Larry had been out in a while. It was great diving
with him again. He looked great after not having dove
since last November. Ride out was a bit choppy but the
NARCOSIS handled
it like a charm. The Captain and Dive Master were a
great team. The boat can haul the proverbial @ss - schweet!
Larry
was trying out his 'new' 104LP and was way overweighted
so he had to go up and off load some weight before he
joined me on the bottom so I futzed around with my new
Riffe gun that I was using for the first time. I see
what people mean by it being hard to load and that some
folks need to 'chest load' it.... I got 1 band
on and was happy at that! The VIZ was pretty good for
the Gulf, at least 35' maybe 40' if you squinted!
Nice
structure and even a few 'shooter' size grouper, but
very wary. Near the end of the dive I tried to outswim
one; I knew I'd lose, but at least I got a shot off.
Saw a nice size turtle, but never got close enough to
tell if it was green (2 scutes between the eyes) or
a hawksbill.
The
DiveMaster was the only person to catch anything. A
real nice 28" Gag. Guess what Larry had for dinner
that night! The DiveMaster was still pretty loaded from
the Narcosis Tournament the day before.
WHAT
WE LEARNED: My fish of the day is..... the Cocoa
DameslFish Juvenile Lots
of these little guys running around on the ledge. There
was also a lone porgy
that made my list!
