what a wild ride!! Was on the Pinnacles last year. This year with the ripping current, 95' hit the sand, no Gus, came back up. ohBoy. I wasn't the only one that couldn't get to the Pinnacles. Saw Larry and hist dive buddy a few yards away so I swam over to them to make pickUp easier. 1 hour later we were on the boat. No kidding.
We were being whizzed away fast. Anybody who questions carrying a safety sausagecan just ask me. The boat sent out JR, the small retrieval boat. It seemed to take while to get to us and I guess it's 'cos it kept turning off! It finally got to us and it became quickly apparent that all three of us weren't gonna be able to fit. I volunteered to stay behind while the first group got dropped off and away went JR. Ummmm... only got a few yards away and it sputtered out. I paddled in the general direction to intersect JR as it drifted back in my direction. Seems that it was as simple as the gas line being attached 100%, but by the time we figured it out the Ultimate Getaway was WAAAAAAY far away. The mate opted to just sit tight and wait till we all got picked up. I'm figuring it's cos he calculated that if they left I would be toooo small a spec to be able to be found again. At least that's the way I figured it. I'm glad we all hung together! |
